The Zulu Lundi Gras Festival is a fun-filled day allowing the people of New Orleans and our city visitors and up-close look at the Zulu Characters (King, Queen, Big Shot, Witch Doctor, Ambassador, Mayor, Province Prince, Governor, and Mr. Big Stuff). The event is hosted by the 600 members of the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club and we welcome you to a fun and exiting day of food, music arts, and crafts along the beautiful riverfront of New Orleans.
the 21st Annual Zulu Lundi Gras Festival will take place on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 10:00am to 6:00pm in Woldenberg Park along the Mississippi River in the French Quarter.
The festival will feature local, world-renowned and Grammy award winning entertainers performing on three (3) stages. Musicians such as Zulu Ensemble, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers, Rebirth Brass Band, Amanda Shaw & the Cute Guys, Michael Soulman Baptiste Band, DJ Captain Charles, Big Al Carson & the Rare Connection, The Original Pinettes Brass Band, Ed Perkins Band, Pinstripe Jazz Band, 2XY Band and many more will be providing non-stop music.
The Lundi Gras Festival will add great taste and flavor to your day when the 25 food vendors kick up the Cajun aroma of crawfish, shrimp, alligator sausage, jambalaya, barbeque ribs, Jamaican chicken, red beans and rice, Cajun burgers, catfish po-boy, seafood gumbo, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, pralines, and many more New Orleans' delicacies. There are other attractions to whet your festive appetite. Everyone can join in a second line as the Zulu Mardi Gras Carnival Characters parade every hour through the thousands of revelers wearing their colorful flamboyant costumes. Who knows - you may be one of the lucky ones to receive a treasured carnival throw - the Zulu Lundi Gras Coconut! Also, witness the arrival of the Zulu King & Queen by U.S. Coast Guard Cutter along with his entourage at 5:00pm.
The non-stop live music and great New Orleans cuisine will certainly provide you with a festive prelude to "Fat Tuesday"!
